When: Thursdays, July 9–August 6, 2020, from 3–5:00pm PST
Where: Online (via Zoom)
How: Free (registration required; space is limited)
For young writers (age 13–18) only
This 5-week workshop, with author Rebecca Roanhorse (Trail of Lightning, Storm of Locusts, Star Wars: Resistance Reborn, and Race to the Sun), will give you and a group of fellow students the opportunity to share one of your stories and give and receive feedback on these works-in-progress, learning about the craft of writing along the way.
NOTE: When you register, you will need to submit one original short story, which is what will get workshopped during the course. Week 1 will be an orientation about the class and workshopping. Weeks 2–5 will be mostly devoted to reading and giving feedback on each other’s stories. Be prepared to participating in all five sessions, read all of your classmates’ works-in-progress, and share constructive feedback they can use to revise their stories.
How Will I Take This Class?
This course will take place via Zoom, a free videoconferencing app for computer, tablet, and phone.
When you enroll (above), you’ll be given a link to the online classroom. Before the first session, you can click on that link, and you will be prompted to download the Zoom app, if you don’t already have it.
If you have enrolled but not received a link to your class session, please email us at info@imagination.ucsd.edu.
When the class starts, everyone but the instructor will be “muted,” but instructors and workshop staff will be able to “unmute” you for questions and interactive portions of the classes.
